IRAS – As the poem from Russian famous poet, Simonyan said, that she won’t cover herself under alien’s protection at a time, when her people are in misery.
She also expressed, that Russian authorities are not happy with the war in Ukraine, but they had to take such a painful decision. but in her view, now that economic perspectives are not promising for Russia, Simonyan expects their people to tolerate and try to get used to this new situation.
From her perspective, Russians can manage their welfare and economy independently, as they have done it before, during the Soviet era and, that now every one should work harder and be kind to others, to make the difficult situation, tolerable for each other.
These days, many western mega companies such as Apple, IKEA and Benz have left Russian market in protest of Moscow military campaign in Ukraine. Ruble’s value is declining immediately and all prices are heading up.
This kind of situation and fear of the future is totally familiar to me as an Iranian citizen. but also Russian official rhetoric, that they can manage it and that everything is going to be fine, is also very familiar to Iranians.
The main difference is, that Russians were used to live with European standards in recent decades, but Iran have been under harsh sanctions for more than 40 years. so, for Russia it will obviously be more painful.
We should wait and see how Vladimir Putin’s administration is going to manage these unprecedented economic pressures in short and long term.
